TV: CSN-Houston

The Houston Astros finish their series with the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon.

The Blue Jays need to get back in the win column to resume their chase of first place Baltimore in the AL East. Toronto had won six in a row to take control of second but have since dropped back to back contests after Saturday's 8-2 defeat at Houston. RA Dickey struggled on the mound with five runs scored over seven frames before Brett Cecil gave up three more without recording an out. The Jays offense had problems as well with Jose Bautista and Nolan Reimold driving in runs. Marcus Stroman looks to stay hot on the mound when he takes the ball versus Houston for the first time. Stroman has been outstanding the past three times out where he has gone 3-0 with just one run scored.

I like what I have seen from the Astros in 2014 although it would be hard to argue there is anything to like about their record. However the Astros are not the pushover they once were and they have proven that with consecutive victories over the visiting Blue Jays. Strong hitting and solid work on the bump made short work of Toronto with starter Brett Oberholtzer giving up both runs on six hits through seven frames with three relievers keeping the Jays off the scoreboard. Jason Castro, Chris Carter and Jonathan Singleton paced the attack with homers and a combined seven RBI's. The Astros are scheduled to start Scott Feldman on Sunday who squares off with Toronto for the first time in 2014. Feldman is coming in off a 7-4 loss to Oakland where he allowed only one run over seven innings.

The Astros can give any team problems and Toronto can go flat without notice but I like what Stroman has done and will give him the nod. I do hate the road juice though...
