The Chicago White Sox and the Texas Rangers face off on Wednesday afternoon in Chicago for game three of their series.
The Chicago White Sox got the win on Monday in a rain shortened game but they paid the price on Tuesday as they were demolished by the Rangers. Conor Gollaspie had two hits and Jose Abreu and Alexei Ramirez each had hits as the White Sox didn’t score on six hits. Starting pitcher John Danks was clubbed allowing eight hits and nine runs while striking out five over 4.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 9-7 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the White Sox start Chris Sale who has won his last five decisions. For the season Sale has allowed 84 hits and 27 earned runs while striking out 129 over 116 innings for a 10-1 record and a 2.09 ERA.

The Texas Rangers have had an awful year but they took out some of their frustration on Tuesday pounding the White Sox. Robinson Chirinos hit two home runs and Shin-Soo Choo, J.P. Arencibia, and Adrein Beltre each hit home runs as the Rangers scored 16 runs on 18 hits. Starting pitcher Colby Lewis allowed six hits and struck out seven going to complete game and earning the shutout win to go to 8-8 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Rangers start Nick Tepesch who has lost his last four decisions. For the season Tepesch has allowed 70 hits and 36 earned runs while striking out 37 over 67 innings for a 3-7 record and a 4.84 ERA.
Chicago is 2-5 in game three of a series, 4-2 against the AL West, and 5-1 in Sale’s last six starts. Texas is 13-39 in their last 52 games, 6-21 in their last 27 road games, and 1-4 in Tepesch’s last five road starts. Texas is 6-11 in their last 17 games against Chicago.
The White Sox are favored big here with Sale starting and I look for them to bounce back and get the win.
