The Milwaukee Brewers and the San Francisco Giants face off on Thursday at Miller Park as they close out their series.
The Milwaukee Brewers fell behind Wednesday in the early going and were never able to catch up as they fell to the Giants. Calos Gomez and Khris Davis each hit home runs and Jean Segura had three hits as the Brewers scored four runs on 13 hits. Starting pitcher Yovani Gallardo allowed nine hits and four runs while striking out four over 4.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 6-6 for the season. For Thursday’s game the brewers start Wily Peralta who has won his last four starts. For the season Peralta has allowed 136 hits and 54 earned runs while striking out 99 over 138 innings for a 13-6 record and a 3.52 ERA.

The San Francisco Giants continue to be in control of their post-season situation as they took care of business on Wednesday. Pablo Sandoval had three hits including a home run, Joe Panik had three hits, and Hunter Pence and Michael Morse had two hits each as the Giants scored seven runs on 14 hits. Starting pitcher Ryan Vogelsong allowed seven hits and a run while striking out three over 6.0 innings to get the win and go to 7-8 for the season. For Thursday’s game the Giants start Jake Peavy who has lost both of his starts since being traded to the Giants. Since the trade to SF peavey has allowed 10 hits and seven earned runs while striking out nine over 13 innings for a 0-2 record and a 4.85 ERA.
Milwaukee is 7-4 as a favorite, 8-2 against the NL West, and 4-1 in Peralta’s last five starts. San Francisco is 6-2 in game three of a series, 2-5 against the NL Central, and 2-6 as an underdog. San Francisco is 3-7 in their last 10 games against Milwaukee.
