The Los Angeles Dodgers visit Miller Park to face the Milwaukee Brewers in a battle of first place teams.

The Dodgers are looking to put a bit of distance between themselves and San Francisco and the one way to do that would be to score runs and help out the pitching staff. The offense finally broke loose Thursday in a 7-0 decision over the Angels. Hyun-Jin Ryu was at his very best with a two hit shutout over seven innings of work to pick up the win. The offense didn't waste that performance with an impressive 13 hit, six walk attack. Adrian Gonzalez and Hanley Ranirez combined on 5-9 night with five RBI's. The Dodgers send newly acquired Roberto Hernandez to the hill for his start in a Los Angeles uniform. With Philadelphia, Hernandez went 6-8 with a 3.87 ERA over 20 outings with the team going 9-11.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Pick-Odds-Prediction - 8/8/14

USA TODAY Sports

Milwaukee has been in a bit of slide lately where the work on the mound is solid when the runs are difficult to come by. The result has left them vulnerable to the Cardinals who are not that far behind in the National League Central. The offense did just enough in a 3-1 victory over visiting San Francisco Thursday but the star of the game was Wily Peralta who gave up the lone run on seven hits while striking out nine through 6.2 frames to up is record to 14-6. The Brew Crew totaled nine hits and three bases on balls with Ryan Braun, Khris Davis and Mark Reynolds driving in runs. The Brewers are scheduled to start Kyle Lohse Friday versus thhe visiting Dodgers in game one of their series. Lohse struggled last time out in a 9-7 loss to St Louis in which he allowed all nine runs (seven earned) in four frames.

I would say Lohse would be my choice on the mound but Hernandez has plenty of talent. I don't know what we'll see from the Dodgers new hurler but if he is on he can win this...
