The Arizona Diamondacks and Colorado Rockies conclude their series at Chase Field with an afternoon bout.
Colorado has been in a long slide which has landed them at the bottom of the National League West so the Rockies are obviously playing out the string and hoping for better things. Better things was not on the menu Saturday in a 14-4 loss at Chase Field. Starter Jorge De La Rosa allowed four runs over six frames while Thomas Kahnle and Nick Masset were charged with nine runs in the 8th inning. The bats posted six hits and walked twice Nolan Arenado going deep and knocking in three in a game the Rockies led 3-1 early. Franklin Morales will be on the hill to face the Diamondbacks on Sunday afternoon. Morales has logged a 5-6 record and a 5.08 ERA over 16 outings where Colorado has gone 6-10.

The Diamondbacks are similar to their counterparts in that the season has really been a long slump. Arizona is also playing with an eye towards 2015 but are looking to take a few teams with them along the way. The Snakes put everything together Saturday with starter Trevor Cahill allowing four runs (tree earned) on four hits and a pair of free passes through seven innings to get the win. There was no shortage of runs with 14 hits that included a homer and four RBI's from Mark Trumbo while David Peralta connected on a grand slam and five RBI's and Alfredo Marte went solo. Left hander Wade Miley toes the rubber against the Rockies for the third time in 2014. Miley was blasted his last time out in a 12-2 loss to Kansas City where he was charged with ten runs on nine hits over six frames.
After watching the Diamondbacks tee off Saturday I think I will go with the hot bats. Neither team is great so the lesser of two evils here...
