The Toronto Blue Jays visit U.S. Cellular Field to open a series with the Chicago White Sox.
The Blue Jays might be in second in the American League East but that might be by default because nobody is playing well except Baltimore. Toronto has dropped seven of ten where the bats have struggled to produce and that squandered solid pitching in a 2-0 loss at Seattle Wednesday. RA Dickey was a tough luck loser with both runs plated on a first inning two run homer. The offense produced seven hits and a pair of walks with Adam Lind and Jose Reyes recording two hits each. The Blue Jays go with Marcus Stroman on the bump to open the series versus the White Sox. Stroman is coming off a complete game performance where he defeated Detroit 3-2 on four hits.

The White Sox have been struggling to get going the past few weeks which has but a damper on their drive to reach .500. Chicago has lost seven of ten where both the arms and bats have failed to generate enough support. That was the case in Wednesday's 7-1 defeat at San Francisco with the Giants scoring all their runs in the 7th. Jose Quintana took the loss with four runs plated over 6.2 frames with Ronald Belisario tagged with three more without recording an out. The White Sox were held to five hits with a 4th inning homer off the bat of Adam Dunn accounting for their scoring. Left hander Hector Noesi gets the call to the mound to face the Blue Jays for the first time in his career. Noesi was at his best in a 2-1 decision at Seattle with an unearned run allowed over 7.1 frames.
What we have here is two teams that are struggling the last two weeks so trying to find an edge to exploit is not happening. I get the feeling the Jays get this one but really no reason to bet this at all...
