The Cincinnati Reds and Colorado Rockies take the field in game two of their series on Friday night.
I have watched Cincinnati intently and have waited and expected this team to come to life and become a factor in the National League Central and I'm beginning to lose faith. My faith in the Reds wasn't restored in a 7-3 defeat at Coors Field Thursday with Alfredo Simon still not looking good since the All Star break. Simon gave up seven runs (five earned) on ten hits over five frames to take the loss. Ryan Ludwick was a bright spot with a 3-4 night including a two run bomb while scoring twice. Cincinnati turns to ace Johnny Cueto to help even their series with the Rockies. Cueto has proven to be one of the best pitchers in the game with a 14-6 record an 2.05 ERA in 25 outings.

Wins have been far and few between for the Rockies with both the offense and pitching struggling to get on the same page. The Rockies reversed that trend for at least one night with ace Jorge De La Rosa giving up all three runs on five hits through seven strong innings to pick up the win. Colorado totaled ten hits and a pair of bases on balls with Charlie Culbertson going 2-4 with a homer and three runs knocked in with two scored. Drew Stubbs and Wilin Rosario each logged a pair of hits with an RBI and a run. Franklin Morales toes the rubber for Colorado in his first ever start against Cincinnati. Morales has gone 5-5 in 2014 with an ERA just south of five in 17 starts with the Rockies going 7-10.
Cueto obviously gives Cincinnati their best chance at winning but that means the offense will at least have to score some. I think the Reds are done personally but on paper this one favors them...
