The New York Yankees welcome the Houston Astros to the Big Apple to kick off a weekday series.
The Houston Astros have been staying one step ahead of the Rangers thus far which has been keepin them out of the American League West basement thus far. The Astros are playing around .500 the past few weeks with both the bats and arms contributing in the wins and not so much in the defeats. The Stros are looking to build on the momentum of Sunday's 8-1 rout of Boston behind great pitching and power hitting. Collin McHugh allowed the lone run on seven hits over six frames to improve to 6-9. Jose Altuve homered and drove in four while Dexter Fowler and Jonathan Singleton went solo. Brett Oberholtzer gets the ball in the series opener with the New York Yankees on Tuesday. Oberholtzer hasn't been winning with a 4-8 record but with quality starts in nine of ten he is lacking support.

The New York Yankees aren't in a bad spot but their position does not leave a lot of room for error either at one game ahead of third place Toronto and seven games back of AL East leading Baltimore. The Yankees have won consecutive games after dropping five in a row following a 4-2 decision versus Tampa Bay Sunday. The Yanks received a strong start from Hiroki Kuroda who was charged with both runs on four hits through six innings to even his record at 8-8. Mark Texiera blasted homer number 20 with Brett Gardner knocking in a pair and scoring. Left hander Chris Capuano will be on the bump for the Bronx Bombers as he opposes the Astros Tuesday. Capuano is needing to rebound from an 11-3 loss at Baltimore where he allowed four runs on seven hits over six frames.
The Yankees have been successful in this match up but I'm not a Capuano fan but the flip side is Houston doesn't support Oberholtzer. I guess if I were to touch this it would be something on the Astros for an interest because this is a bad team...
