The Cincinnati Reds continue their battle with the division rival St Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night.
Like I always say, I don't consider a team to be a factor in any division race until they are above .500. The Cincinnati Reds fall in that category as they have the talent to challenge in the Central but fell further off the pace after a 6-5, ten inning loss at St Louis on Monday. Mike Leake gave up four runs over seven frames for a ND while Logan Ondrusek allowing the winer without recording an out. The Reds posted eight hits and walked five times with Jay Bruce clubbing a three run homer. Alfredo Simon hopes to right the ship when he toes the rubber against the St Louis Cardinals. Simon has been struggling the past three times out with 12 runs plated on 20 hits and nine BB in 15 frames.

The St Louis Cardinals might be the one team that poses a threat to Milwaukee in the National League Central with their ability to hit and pitch. Both have been on display the past week with wins in five of six following Monday's win. Justin Masterson received a no decision with four runs given up through five innings of work. Trevor Rosenthal blew the save with a run scored in the 8th but the Cardinals offense came to the rescue. The Redbirds attack consisted of 13 hits with Jhonny Peralta driving in a pair of runs while Matt Holliday scoring twice. Veteran John Lackey makes his 4th start for the St Louis Cardinals since coming over from Boston. Lackey is coming in off a 4-3 decision over San Diego where he gave up a pair of runs in seven innings.
This is a tough choice for me because I hate laying chalk with Lackey but backing a struggling Cincinnati club is far from appealing so do with this as you will...
