The San Diego Padres continue their battle with the division rival Los Angeles Dodgers in game two of their series.
Even though the San Diego Padres have been playing decent baseball things would still be better if they had consistent scoring. The Padres received plenty of scoring but no pitching in an 8-6 defeat at Los Angeles Tuesday. Ian Kennedy coughed up an early lead with six runs allowed (five earned) on seven hits over five innings. The Padres hammered out 14 hits and walked twice with Jedd Gyorko clubbing a three run homer in the first while Abraham Almonte went 4-5 with an RBI and run. Left hander Eric Stults takes the bump versus the Los Angeles Dodgers for the second time in 2014. Stults has been outstanding the past three times out with three runs plated in 19.2 innings of work.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are the best team in the National League West although their recent play is no indication. The Dodgers were swept at home by Milwaukee where neither the pitching or hitting was strong. The pitching wasn't good Tuesday but the offense was with Carl Crawford going 3-3 with a homer and a trio of RBI's while Justin Turner went 2-4 and knocked in a pair. Newly acquired Kevin Correia allowed four runs through five frames with Dale Thayer and Alexander Torres allowing a run each. Roberto Hernandez makes his 3rd start for the Dodgers since coming over from Philadelphia. In his two outings with his new team Hernandez has given up only three runs on six his over 12 frames.
I'm actually a bit worried about Stults and the Padres offense so the key for me is Roberto Hernandez who needs to be on his toes. I lean to the Dodgers but nothing very big...
