The Seattle Mariners look for some scoring to take down the Boston Red Sox in game two.
The Seattle Mariners didn't look good in their series at Philadelphia and didn't look goo through eight innings in their opener at Boston but a five run 9th for a 5-3 victory. The late rally got Felix Hernandez off the hook after he allowed all three runs on five hits and a pair of free passes over 5.1 frames. The offense totaled seven hits and walked seven times with Austin Jackson and Dustin Ackley knocking in two runs each in the 9th. Chris Young gets the ball versus the Boston Red Sox for Saturday's game two bout. Young is enjoying a career type season with a 12-6 record and and ERA just north of three over 24 outings.

The Boston Red Sox had been competitive a few weeks ago but the last week has not been as kind. The Red Sox looked ready to snap a five game slide Friday before the pen gave it up in the 9th. In the process a one hit shutout over five innings from Joe Kelly turned in to a no decision when Koji Uehera was charged with all five runs on five hits in 2/3 of an inning. Boston made the most of five hits and four base on balls with Yoenis Cepedes blasting a three run homer in the 6th. The Red Sox turn to Brandon Workman on the hill in the second game of their series against the Mariners. Workman has gone through some growing pains with a 1-7 record and 4.26 ERA in eleven starts.
If baseball had such a thing as momentum then the Mariners would have it and they certainly need it for the Wild Card race. I'm backing them here and hoping Young continues to throw well...
