The Seattle Mariners hope to close out their trip to Fenway Park with another win over the Boston Red Sox.
The Seattle Mariners are out of the American League West race unless bot the Athletics and Angels fall off the map. However the M's are doing their part to stay in the Wild Card conversation with wins in eight of eleven after Saturday's 7-3 triumph over the Red Sox. It turned out to be pitcher by committee after Chris Young lasted only 3.3 frames with three runs scored. Four relievers nailed it down an the offense won it with a seven run 4th. Dustin Ackley paced the scoring with a three run jack for his 9th of 2014. Hisashi Iwakuma is scheduled to be on the hill to challenge the Boston Red Sox on Sunday. Iwakuma logged five consecutive quality starts and has thrown back to back shutouts to lower his ERA to 2.57.

The Boston Red Sox initially looked fine right after the trade deadline when they got rid of several players but a bad season has gotten worse with both the work on the mound and at the plate struggling through seven losses in a row following Saturday's defeat. Starter Brandon Workman was hit hard with all seven runs plated on ten hits over 3.1 innings to drop his record to 1-8. Boston did have enough runners on nine hits and six bases on balls with David Ross, Will Middlebrooks and Yoenis Cespedes driving in runs. The Red Sox look to right hander Allen Webster for Sunday's start versus the Seattle Mariners. Webster has thrown the ball well lately with three straight quality starts where is 2-1 with a 3.86 ERA.
With both pens being called upon early the ideal situation would be for the starters to go deep. I think the guy to do that is Iwakuma and hopefully Webster cools off a bit...
