The New York Mets look to make a last ditch effort to reach .500 with a win at the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The New York Mets had been within reach of the .500 mark before a two week long skid where very little hitting and scoring has taken place. Things didn't improve Saturday as an early lead disappeared in a 7-4 defeat at Los Angeles. Starter Jacob deGrom did not look like a Rookie of the Year candidate with all five runs allowed over six innings to take the loss. The New Yorkers had a solid night at the plate with 12 hits but too many chances were LOB. Juan Lagares homered and knocked in three while Lucas Duda nailed his 24th bomb. Veteran Bartolo Colon takes the ball for the first time in 2014 versus the Los Angeles Dodgers. Colon has generally been dependable with an 11-10 record and 3.85 ERA over 24 starts where the Mets have gone 13-11.

The Los Angeles Dodgers haven't been setting the world on fire the past week or so but both the arms and bats have been making contributions the past few days to help hold off San Francisco. It appears the extra few days of rest helped Zack Greinke wh gave up all four runs (three earned) through seven innings to pick up the win. The bats totaled eight hits with Adrian Gonzalez leading the way on a 3-5 night with a homer, five RBI's and a pair of runs. Newly acquired Kevin Correia will be on the mound for the 3rd time for Oakland since coming over from Minnesota. Correia is coming in off of an 8-6 win over San Diego where he allowed four runs over five frames.
Betting the Mets is never an easy thing because they can beat the best and lose to the worse. I would think the bats would hit Correia but I can't bet them because they are not dependable...
