The New York Yankees take their hot streak to Comerica Park to faceoff with the Detroit Tigers.
The New York Yankees are trying to keep the pressure on the American League East leading Orioles with the arms and bats contributing to a four game winning streak heading in to Kansas City Monday. The winning continued with the scoring and pitching coming through once again in an 8-1 decision at Kansas City on Monday. Michael Pineda showed no ill effects from a long stint on the disabled list with the lone run scored over 6.1 frames to get the win. The offense did their share with Martin Prado, Stephen Drew and Jacoby Ellsbury going deep and driving in six. Brandon McCarthy takes the ball in the series opener with the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday. McCarthy has looked like another pitcher since joining the Yankees with his 5-2 record and 1.90 ERA.

The Detroit Tigers are looking up at the Kansas City Royals in the American League Central race as they haven't been able to take over the division because the offense and pitching have had difficulty getting on the same page. Both were strong Sunday in a 13-4 rout of Minnesota although Max Scherzer wasn't in top form. Scherzer gave up three runs over five frames and he was backed by an 18 hit attack that saw every starter hit safely. Victor Martinez and Torii Hunter paced the offense with four RBI's each while Rajai Davis knocked in two. The Tigers send Rick Porcello to the hill to face the New York Yankees for the second time in 2014. Porcello is riding the momentum of a 6-0 victory at Tampa Bay where he tossed a complete game.
The Yankees are hot and probably the one team that has a shot at chasing down the Orioles. I am not a McCarthy fan but I'll back him at plus money but not thrilled...
