The Arizona Diamondbacks host the Los Angeles Dodgers in a NL West tilt at Chase Field.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have a decent lead in the National League West over the Giants and would like nothing to expand their lead and coast to the finish line. The Dodgers picked up a 9-5 decision at Chase Field Tuesday behind some big offense to maintain their lead in the NL West. Roberto Hernandez got the win with three runs plated over six innings while the bats pounded out 14 hits. Matt Kemp went deep and drove in two with a pair of runs while Justin Turner drove in two more. The Los Angeles Dodgers send ace Clayton Kershaw to the mound to squareoff with the Diamondbacks for the 4th time this year. Kershaw is 15-3 with a 1.84 ERA over 21 outings where the Dodgers are 17-4.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are certainly much better then their record says but this is what happens when both the work on the mound and at the plate struggles to get on the same page. That trend continued with starter Trevor Cahill put his team behind the eight ball with eight runs allowed (six earned) through 3.1 frames to absorb the loss. The Snakes mustered nine hits and walked four times with Ender Inciarte driving in three while Didi Gregorius scored twice. The Diamondbacks are scheduled to start Wade Miley for Wednesday's battle with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Miley has been outstanding the last three times out but the team is just 0-3 despite a 1.83 ERA.
When the Dodgers pitch Kershaw it's almost automatic to back the ace lefty who will win the Cy Young. I'll back him here but the worry is scoring for him to at least have some wiggle room...
