The Houston Astros and the Oakland A’s face off on Wednesday in Houston for game three of their series.

The Houston Astros never gave in on Tuesday and it paid off as they rallied late for the win. Chris Carter hit a three run home run, Dexter Fowler hit a home run, and Jose Altuve had a hit as the Astros scored four runs on four hits. Starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel allowed five hits and two runs while striking out three over 7.0 innings to not get a decision as Josh Fields got the win and Chad Qualls earned his 15th save. For Wednesday’s game the Astros start Brad Peacock who has three no decisions and three losses in his last six starts. For the season Peacock has allowed 114 hits and 63 earned runs while striking out 93 over 107 innings for a 3-8 record and a 5.30 ERA.

The Oakland A’s appeared to have Tuesday’s game in hand but they let it slip away taking a tough loss in Houston. Jonny Gomes had two hits and Josh Donaldson and Geovany Soto each had hits as the Athletics scored twice on five hits. Jason Hammel allowed three hits and a run while striking out six over 7.0 innings but it was squandered as Luke Gregerson blew the save and took the loss. For Wednesday’s game the A’s start Drew Pomeranz who returns from the DL after injuring his hand by punching a chair in June. For the season Pomeranz has allowed 46 hits and 18 earned runs while striking out 48 over 55.2 innings for a 5-4 record and a 2.91 ERA.

Houston is 35-80 in game three of a series, 2-4 as an underdog, and 1-4 in Peacock’s last five home starts. Oakland is 14-6 on the road against a team with a losing record, 1-6 in their last seven road games, and 1-4 in Pomeranz’s last five starts. Oakland is 14-6 in their last 20 games in Houston.

Both of these pitchers can be hit and I expect them to get hit here and my free pick is going to be the over.
