The Miami Marlins hope to end their visit with the Los Angeles Angels with a win on Wednesday.
The Miami Marlins are still holding out the hopes of a postseason berth which means a Wild Card at best with the National League East out of reach. Those hopes took a hit Tuesday in an 8-2 loss to the Angels. Nathan Eovaldi suffered his second straight poor performance with six runs scored on ten hits over 3.1 innings. The offense was limited to six hits with Jarrod Saltalmacchia and Ed Lucas driving in 9th inning runs. Henderson Alvarez will be on the bump to face the dangerous bats of the Los Angeles Angels Wednesday. Alvarez comes in off of a rare poor outing where he allowed four runs in six innings of a 13-5 win at Colorado.

The Los Angeles Angels need to get hot again and put some distance between them and Oakland which is tough to ask of a team with the best record in the game. With the Athletics losing Tuesday the Angels received contributions from all areas in their big win over the visiting Marlins. Matt Shoemaker tossed a two hhit shutout ovr seven innings to up his record to 13-4. The offense pounded out 16 hits with Albert Pujols and Efren Navrro leading the way with a pair of RBI's. Left hander Hector Santiago toes the rubber versus the Miami Marlins on Wednesday in the serie finale'. Santiago has been rock solid the last three times out but is 0-0 with a 1.06 ERA with little support.
Alvarez is the Marlins best option on the mound while Santiago has been showing some positive signs. Perhaps the better team angle describes my thoughts but I don't see a huge angle to exploit and I'm hesitant to lay chalk here...
