The Los Angeles Angels and the Oakland Athletics continue their AL West tilt on Friday night.
The Oakland Athletics know they control their own fate to a certain degree which means avoid losing streaks and the chances are good they can capture another AL West crown. The A's dropped round one of their battle with the Angels for control of the West 4-3 in ten innings. Starter Sonny Gray allowed three runs over seven frames for a ND with the loss going to Ryan Cook. Josh Donaldson smacked a solo homer with Coco Crisp adding another RBI. The Athletics are hoping Jon Lester can continue his hot work on the mound when he faces the Los Angeles Angels for the second straight time. Lester defeated the Angels 2-1 with a run allowed in seven innings.

Like Oakland, the Los Angeles Angeles Angels have their fate in their own hands as well with more winning and less losing to close 2014 giving them a decent chance at capturing the American League West title. The Angels came out on top Wednesday to extend their lead to two games over the Athletics with Howie Kendrick connecting on a sac fly to score Albert Pujols with the winner. CJ Wilson gave up all three runs through 5.2 innings before five relievers kept Oakland off the scoreboard. Gordon Beckham paced the attack with two RBI's while Erick Aybar singled in another. Jered Weaver toes the rubber in game number two of their series with the Oakland Athletics. Weaver earned a 9-4 decision versus the A's last time out with three runs plated in 6.2 innings pitched.
Weaver defeated the Athletics last time out and has generally fared well in this match up. This could go either way but I'm hoping it goes Oakland's way with Lester on the hill...
