The Philadelphia Phillies head south to Turner Field to tangle with the Atlanta Braves on Monday.
The Philadelphia Phillies latest hot streak has the team hoping tor a .500 record while escaping the NL East. Despite a 6-5 loss to the Mets on Sunday the Phillies have still won seven of eleven. Starter AJ Burnett allowed five runs on nine hits over six innings to fall to 7-15. The Phils made a game of it on 12 hits and four walks with Ryan Howard going deep and driving in three while Domonic Brown went deep. Left hander Cole Hamels opens the series on the mound with the Atlanta Braves on Monday. Hamels has been the only dependable Philadelphia hurler with a 7-6 record and 2.59 ERA over 24 starts.

The Atlanta Braves still harbor hopes of capturing the National League East but they might be coming to the realization that the Wild Card might be the best chance at reaching the postseason. The Braves took a step in the right direction in a 1-0 victory over the visiting Marlins on Sunday. Starter Alex Wood was at his very best with a five hit shutout through eight innings pitched while recording 12 strikeouts. The offense racked up eleven hits but managed a lone run on an Evan Gattis bomb in the second. The Braves send Julio Teheran to the mound to face the Philadelphia Phillies Monday night. Teheran has been hot with three consecutive victories where he has given up only three runs over 18.1 innings.
The Phillies only real chance to win has been Hamels but he will need some runs which is far from certain versus Teheran. Probably a no play for me but I'll back the Phils at solid odds...
