The Milwaukee Brewers and the St. Louis Cardinals face off on Friday in Milwaukee in game two of their series.

The Milwaukee Brewers had more than their share of chances on Thursday but they were unable to convert on most of them as they fell at home to the Cardinals. Rickie Weeks hit a home run, Gerrardo Parra had three hits, and Jonathan Lucroy had two hits as the Brewers scored two runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Wily Peralta allowed seven hits and three runs while striking out seven over 6.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 15-10 for the season. For Friday’s game the brewers turn to Mike Fiers who lost last time out to end a person four game winning streak. For the season Fiers has allowed 23 hits and nine runs while striking out 46 over 42 innings for a 4-2 record and a 1.93 ERA.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. St. Louis Cardinals 9/5/14 MLB Pick, Odds, Prediction

The St. Louis Cardinals were never able to put away the Brewers on Thursday but they held on to get the win. Matt Carpenter and Matt Holliday each had three hits and Jon Jay and Kolten Wong each had two hits as the Cardinals scored three runs on 12 hits. Starting pitcher Michael Wacha allowed three hits and a run while striking out three over 3.0 innings to not factor in the decision as Marco Gonzalez got the win Trevor Rosenthal earned his 42nd save. For Friday’s game the Cardinals start John Lackey who has no decisions in three of his last four starts. Since being traded to the Cardinals Lackey has allowed 45 hits and 18 earned runs while striking out 28 over 38.1 innings for a 2-1 record and a 4.23 ERA.

Milwaukee is 1-5 in their last six home games, 0-4 as a favorite, and 4-1 in Fiers’ last five starts. St. Louis is 7-0 in their last seven games, 22-8 against the NL Central, and 4-0 in Lackey’s last four starts. St. Louis is 42 -19 in the last 61 meetings with Milwaukee.

The Cardinals are hot and the Brewers are ice cold but I see those trends reversing here as the Brewers get the win.
