The Miami Marlins shoot for consecutive victories over the visiting Atlanta Braves in Saturday action.
The Atlanta Braves are still clinging to hopes of capturing the National League East title but they need to string the wins together and hope Washington goes in to a season ending slump. The Braves took a step back in an 11-3 defeat at Miami in the series opener with nothing going favorably. Aaron Harang was charged with six runs in 3.2 frames with three relivers allowing five more. The offense couldn't keep up with Freddie Freeman clubbing his 18th bomb. Lefty hander Alex Wood looks to continue his solid pitching when he opposes the Miami Marlins in game two of their series. Wood is just 10-10 despite a 2.92 ERA over 20 outings.

The Miami Marlins haven't been playing all that well which has hurt their chance to reach .500 and bypass the Braves for second in the National League East. The Marlins took step one towards their goal with Friday's victory behind solid pitching and an 18 hit attack. Jarred Cosart improved his record to 4-1 with all three runs plated on five hits through 7.2 innings. Marcell Ozuna let the offense with a 4-5 night and four RBI'swhile Giancarlo Stanton knocked in two more. The Marlins hand the ball to Nathan Eovaldi four the second game of the series with the Atlanta Braves. Eovaldi generally been good or bad in 2014 with little in between and has a 6-10 record with a 4.19 ERA.
Wood is a tough character when throwing well and Eovaldi has thrown well versus Atlanta. This looks like a tossup so I'll back the better odds...
