The Texas Rangers look to cool off the playoff hopeful Seattle Mariners in AL West action Saturday night.
The Seattle Mariners survived a recent slowdown and have won four in a row to get back in the hunt for the Wild Card. The Mariners jumped to a 5-2 lead end held on for a 7-5 victory at Texas. Hisashi Iwakuma saw his record go to 14-5 with three runs allowed over five frames before the pen made things a bit closer. Kendrys Morales clubbed a pair of homers while Brad Miller connected on a two run jack with Mike Zunino going solo. Chris Young has been penciled in as the Mariners starter for Saturday's bout with the Texas Rangers. Young has stumbled badly the past two times out with eight runs plated over 4.1 innings.

The Texas Rangers have been fading as injuries and new faces have taken a toll on the won/loss record. The Rangers have dropped nine of eleven following the series opening loss to visitng Seattle. The work at the plate couldn't make up for the pitching with Scott Baker giving five runs through 4.1 frames with Shawn Tolleson giving up two more in 1.2 innings. The Rangers had plenty of runners on 13 hits and a pair of free passes with Adam Rosales connecting on a two run blast. Nicholas Martinez toes the rubber versus the Seattle Mariners in game two of their weekend series. Martinez is struggling in his rookie campaign with a 3-10 record and an ERA north of five.
I know most people will look at the respective ERA's and go with Young but he has been beyond awful the last two times out. I will back Seattle but Young's struggles might be a reason to sit this one out...
