The Atlanta Braves hope to keep thie NL East hopes alive with a win versus the Miami Marlins on Sunday.
The Atlanta Braves postseason hopes likely depend on how the team fares over the next two weeks. If Atlanta has success it will probably mean the offense has been scoring because that has been a weakness. The offense barely did enough to squeeze by Miami 4-2 in ten frames to pick up a game on Washington. Alex Wood held the Marlins to a pair of runs in seven frames with Jordan Walden blowing the save with an 8th inning run plated. Wood helped his cause with a pair of RBI's while Evan Gattis clubbed his 21st in the 10th to win it. Julio Teheran looks for another solid pitching performance when he takes the hill versus Miami on Sunday. Teheran is 2-1 over his last three outings with a 1.42 ERA and has thrown four straight quality starts.

The Miami Marlins have zero room for losing and need a flawless close to 2014 to snag a Wild Card and even a great finish might not be enough. Those hopes were dealt a blow with Saturday's defeat as the offense didn't do much. Nathan Eovaldi allowed three runs through 6.1 innings with the loss going to Bryan Morris who served up a solo homer in the 10th. The Marlins totaled seven hits and walked three times with Casey McGehee knocking in two with Jeff Baker rapping a run scoring single. The Marlins hand the ball to Brad Hand in the final game of the series with the Atlanta Braves. Hand has struggled the past three times out with a 1-2 record and a 7.88 ERA over 16 innings of work.
The numbers say the Braves have an advantage with Teheran on the mound which is a difficult thing for me because I don't trust that offense who might get 12 hits and fail to score...
