The St Louis Cardinals look to continue their postseason drive when they visit the Cincinnati Reds.

The St Louis Cardinals have surged past Milwaukee in to the lead in the National League Central and padded their advantage with a 9-1 rout of the Brewers at Miller Park. Adam Wainwright was at his best with a comlete game performance that upped his record to 17-9. The offense was just as impressive with 13 hits and a pair of base on balls with Jhonny Peralta going deep with a pair of RBI's and two runs. Matt Carpenter and Peter Bourjos added a pair of RBI's while Kolten Wong scored twice. The Cardinals go with Shelby Miller on the hill who takes on the Cincinnati Reds for the third time. On the season Miller has logged an 8-9 record with an ERA of four over 27 outings where the Cards have gone 12-15.

Cincinnati Reds vs. St. Louis Cardinals Pick-Odds-Prediction - 9/8/14

The Cincinnati Reds are simply trying to finish the season strong but things haven't been going favorably with defeats in seven of ten following a 4-3 loss to the Mets on Sunday. The defense let the team down in the finale' versus the Mets. Starter Mat Latos was charged with three runs on seven hits through six innings but none were earned which saddled him with a loss. The Reds had plenty of runners with nine hits and three bases on balls with Jay Bruce clubbing his 16th round tripper. Dylan Axelrod makes his 4th start with Cincinnati and first ever versus the St Louis Cardinals. Axelrod is hoping to bounce back from a 6-0 defeat at Baltimore where he gave up four runs in six frames.

It's tough to predict what we'll see from Axelrod who has never faced the Cardinals and that could work in his favor. I don't know how that plays out but I'll side with the hot team...
