The Colorado Rockies head to the Big Apple to open a series with the New York Mets Monday.
The Colorado Rockies have themselves a little winning streak which is almost front page news for a team that hasn't won with regularity. The Rockies have won four in a row after a 6-0 decision over the visiting San Diego Padres on Sunday. Starter Franklin Morales has had success in this match up and did so once again with a four hit shutout over six innings to go to 6-7 on the year. The Rockies continued to hit the ball with 12 hits and four free passes with Jackson Williams smacking a three run homer while Wilin Rosario hit a two run jack. Monday's start with the New York Mets goes to Jordan Lyles who hasn't faced the New Yorkers in two years. Lyles is in need of a bounce back from a 12-7 loss to San Francisco where he gave up six runs in 6.1 frames.

The New York Mets drive to reach .500 took another step forward with a 4-3 decision at Great American Ball Park for their 4th win in five contests. It wasn't easy with a scare from the late inning relief but that's been this team's MO. Zack Wheeler picked up the win with one run scored over six innings with Jenrry Mejia allowing a pair of 9th inning runs to make this one uncomfortable. The offense was a two an affair with Cutis Granderson and Anthony Recker leaving the yard and driving in two runs apiece. Left hander Jon Niese gets the call to the mound in the series opener versus the Colorado Rockies. Niese did not receive a decision in an 8-6 win over Miami with six runs plated in six innings.
Both teams are playing well so something has to give. It's not easy finding an edge here which will scare me away so I'll side with the better odds...
