The Chicago Cubs travel north of the border for an interleague match up with the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Chicago Cubs had the perfect opportunity to really damage the Pirates postseason hopes over the weekend but instead were swept away after Sunday's 10-4 defeat. The Buccos jumped to a 7-0 lead after two innings and were never challenged with Travis Wood hit up to the tune of seven runs on nine hits including three homers. Chicago's ten hit, three walk attack fell short with Ryan Kalish posting a two run triple while Mike Olt went 3-3 with an RBI and run. Jacob Turner opens the series on the mound with his first career start versus the Toronto Blue Jays. Turner is coming in off one of his best outings in a 4-2 win over Milwaukee where he gave up a lone run over 6.1 innings.

The Toronto Blue Jays are still holding out hopes of capturing a Wild Card but need to string together the wins to get back in the picture. The Blue Jays took a step forward in a 3-1 decision at Fenway Park on Sunday. RA Dickey had his knuckleball working with the lone run plated on four hits through seven innings to even his record at 12-12. Jose Bautista was the offense with a homer and single with three RBI's Jose Reyes and Anthony Gose scoring. Toronto hands the ball to Marcus Stroman for his first ever meeting with the Chicago Bears. Stroman has won back to back outings where he has allowed four runs over 13.2 innings of work.
The Cubs have hit a skid and the Blue Jays have to win and they have advantages so I will back the home team...
