The Boston Red Sox won't be challenging for the American League East crown and their record tells that story but keeping their division rivals from winning makes them about as happy as a non playoff team could be. The Red Sox weren't smiling Monday with the offense stalled and that made a loser of Joe Kelly who threw well enough to win. Rookie Anthony Ranaudo toes the rubber for his 5th career start and first against the Baltimore Orioles. Ranaudo is 3-1 thus far with a 4.63 ERA with a 1.41 WHIP covering 23.1 innings of work.
