The San Diego Padres are looking for some offense in game two series with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The San Diego Padres drive to reach .500 has hit a major snag with five consecutive defeats as they head to open a road series with the Dodgers on Monday. A struggling offense has been to blame most of the time but the pitching didn't help in Monday's 9-4 loss. Odrisamer Despaigne gave up seven runs (six earned) over 4.1 frames which was too much for the offense to contend with. The Padres posted four hits with Yasmani Grandal going solo while Rymer Liriano scored twice. Andrew Cashner gets the call to the mound to oppose the Los Angeles Dodgers for the third time this season. Cashner has posted a 2-7 record despite a 2.39 ERA as he has struggled to get support.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are simply trying to put some distance between themselves and San Francisco for a little breathing room. The Dodgers picked up a 1/2 game over idle San Francisco with Monday's victory which was also a rare display of offense. Clayton Kershaw received plenty of support to make three runs allowed (one earned) over eight innings a winner. Los Angeles pounded out 13 hits with Carl Crawford going deep and driving three with Hanley Ramirez knocking in two more. The Dodgers are scheduled to start Roberto Hernandez against the San Diego Padres Tuesday. Hernandez is coming in off his worse performance since leaving Philadelphia with five runs scored in 4.1 frames of a 6-4 loss to Washington.
I like Cashner much better then Hernandez put San Diego is losing and has struggled to score so I'll back the Dodgers and hope they do some scoring...
