The Tampa Bay Rays go in search of another win at the expense of the New York Yankees.
The Tampa Bay Rays won't be making an appearance in the postseason and right now the goal is to take the Yankees with them. Mission accomplished in the opener with a 4-3 decision Tuesday behind the starting pitching of Chris Archer. Archer gave up all three runs on seven hits over 6.1 frames to improve to 9-8. The Rays pounded out eleven hits with James Loney going 3-4 with a homer and a pair of RBI's. Jake Odorizzi looks to continue his hot pitching when he faces the New York Yankees for the third time. Odorizzi has not allowed a run in back to back outings where has given up four hits in 14.1 frames.

The New York Yankees are desperate for a prolonged winning streak as they have ground to make up if they hope to snag a Wild Card berth. That goal took a step back with Tuesdday's defeat as starter Hiroki Kuroda was hit hard with four runs plated on nine hits through 3.1 innings with seven relievers forced in to action. The Yankees did their damage on seven hits with Jacoby Ellsbury leaving the yard while Chris Young ripped a two run single. Veteran left hander Chris Capuano toes the rubber versus the Tampa Bay Rays with the Yankees postseason hopes on the line. Capuano is 2-3 with a 4.46 ERA over eight starts covering 78.2 innings.
The Yankees really need to win but Tampa Bay is really a tough team to face when a win is needed. Hopefully the Rays are tough again on Wednesday...
