The Seattle Mariners look to close their series with Houston Astros with a win on Wednesday.
The Houston Astros have been playing great baseball over the past few weeks which is not something playoff contenders want to see. Seattle didn't want to see the Astros Tuesday in a 2-1 loss. Starter Colin McHugh was nearly untouchable with two hits given up with the run coming on a solo homer over eight innings that evened his record at 9-9. Jonathan Singleton and Jonathan Villar drove in runs to pace an eight hit attack. Nick Tropeano makes his major league debut versus the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday. Tropeano is 9-5 with an ERA just north of three at Triple A Oklahoma City where he threw 124.2 innings.

The Seattle Mariners are back to their winning ways just when I thought I saw a crack in their armor. The Mariners entered Tuesday's bout with Houston having won seven of ten but the hot streak took a wrong turn with Tuesday's defeat. The lack of offense squandered a great performance on the mound from Roenis Elias who allowed a run through six innings with the loss going to Yoervis Medina who allowed a 9th inning run. Not much was happening for the M's at the plate with one of their two hits being Logan Morrison smacking homerun number seven. The Mariners give Hisashi Iwakuma the series ending start against the Houston Astros. On the season Iwakuma has been steady with a record of 14-6 with a 2.97 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in 24 outings.
Seattle needs to get right back on the winning track and have one of their best in Iwakuma on the mound. I'll take a shot with the Mariners with their second best pitcher going...
