The Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres continue their series at Petco Park on Tuesday.
The Philadelphia Phillies look to finish the season strong although a big finish probably won't help the team escape last in the National League East. Starte Jerome Williams has been outstanding since joining the Phillies and was at his best Monday with three hits and an unearned run scored throught 7.2 innings pitched which turned out to be a losing effort. The Philadelphia attack was silent with a pair of hits and a base on balls to their credit. AJ Burnett gets the call to the mound where he squares off with the San Diego Padres for the second time. Burnett is coming off of a 4-1 loss to Pittsburgh where he gave up all four runs over six frames.

The San Diego Padres had their sights set on a .500 record a few short weeks ago but the wins have been difficult to come by since with neither their pitching or offense able to get the job done. The offense stalled once again Monday but the work on the mound made everything turn out fine. Andrew Cashner was dominant in a two hit, complete game performance while recording seven strikeouts. The offense consisted Rene Rivera scoring a second inning unearned run. The game two start goes to Ian Kennedy who has opposed the Philadelphia Phillies once in 2014. Kennedy hopes to duplicate his last outing where he gave up three runs on ten hits in six frames of a 4-0 loss at Los Angeles.
There really isn' a lot to go on here with neither team being an explosive force at the plate. I'll just go with the home team although there are better options out there...
