The surging Texas Rangers and the red hot Los Angeles Angeles Angels squareoff in game two of their series.
The Texas Rangers have easily been playing their best baseball of the season with both the pitching and hitting on the same page with wins in seven straight after Friday's 12-3 decision over the Angels. Rookie Lisalverto Bonilla won his second in as many starts with a pair of runs scored on two hits and four BB over five frames. The Rangers pounded out 12 hits with Jake Smolinski, Adrian Beltre and Daniel Robertson knocking in two runs apiece. Colby Lewis will be on the hill to oppose the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday. Lewis has been all over the map in 2014 but has been strong in his last two with three runs scored over 14 innings.

The Angels have wrapped up the American League West so the question is whether they want to make a run at 100 wins or coast to the finish line. It seemed more like the latter in the series opener with starter Hector Santiago struggling from pitch number one. Santiago was charged with seven runs on seven hits before hitting the showers after one inning. Three relievers combined to give up five more but the damage was done. Los Angeles totaled seven hits and walked six times with Brennan Boesch cracking a two run homer while CJ Cron doubled in another. The Angels turn to Jered Weaver for the game two start versus the Texas Rangers on Saturday. On the season Weaver has gone 17-8 with a 3.50 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 32 outings.
The Rangers have just been smoking hot and I'm not sure I want to get in their way right now. Weaver has been nearly shutdown in this match up however and Lewis has been a coin flip so maybe look elsewhere...
