Petco Park and the San Diego Padres play host to postseason hopeful San Francisco Giants.
The San Francisco Giants are facing crunch time with the Dodgers leading the division and the end of the season in sight. That made a series opening 5-0 defeat at Petco Park painful especially with the Dodgers winning. As I said in Friday's write up, I had a bad feeling about Tim Hudson and he did struggle with all five runs plated over 4.1 frames with four scored in the first. That set the tone for the night with the offense mustering three hits with Joe Panik going 2-4. Yusmeiro Petit is scheduled to take the ball in game two against the San Francisco Giants. Petit has been solid the past two times out with a combined four earned runs scored in 16 frames.

The San Diego Padres have played well enough over the past week and have chance to be a big time spoiler versus San Francisco. The Padres certainly spoiled the Giants plans in the first game of the series behind some ealy scoring and a great pitching performance from Odrisamer Despaigne. Despaigne tossed a two hit shutout through seven innings while Cameron Maybin and Alexi Amarista drove in a pair of runs each to provide all the support the rookie hurler would need. The Padres hand the ball to Andrew Cashner for Saturday's outing versus the San Francisco Giants. Cashner looks to duplicate his last start where he threw a complete game two hit shutout in a 1-0 win over the Phillies.
The Giants have not looked good the last few days and the Padres are a tough bet because of their hide and seek scoring. I'll back San Diego with their ace and pray they find some way to score....
