The Colorado Rockies have been playing their best baseball as the poste win number six in a row after saddling Arizona with an 8-3 defeat at Coors Field on Sunday. Christian Bergman was the winner with a pair of runs scored on six hits through 5.2 innings pitched with five relievers finishing the job. The Rockies pounded out 13 hits and walked four times with Michael Cuddyer going solo while Rafael Ynoa drove in three and Brandon Barnes two. Left hander Tyler Matzek toes the rubber for the third time versus the San Diego Padres on Monday. Matzek has been rock solid the past three times out with a 2-1 record and 1.74 ERA.

The San Diego Padres have been a streaky team at times and right things are going their way with wins in six of seven after downing San Francisco 8-2 on Sunday. Ian Kennedy held a dangerous Giants lineup to to two runs on five hits through 6.2 innings to pick up the win. The Padres offense totaled eight hits and five bases on balls with Yasmani Grandal leading the way with three RBI's while Rene Rivera and Cameron Maybin knocking in two more each. Lefty Eric Stults opens the series on the mound versus the Colorado Rockies for the 5th time in 2014. Stults is coming off of a 5-2 loss to to Philadelphia with four runs plated over 4.1 innings.
Both teams are red hot so something has to give. I see no real advantage to exploit so I'll just go with the better odds...
