The Cleveland Indians and the Kansas City Royals face off on Tuesday in Cleveland as they continue their series.
The Cleveland Indians are hanging around the AL Wildcard race trying to slip in like they did last season but after winning a suspended game on Monday they dropped Monday’s actual game. Michael Bourn had two hits and Michael Brantley and Carlos Santana each had hits as the Indians failed to score on seven hits. Starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco allowed seven hits and two runs while striking out nine over 7.1 innings to take the loss and fall to 8-6 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the Indians start Danny Salazar who is 6-7 with a 4.02 ERA for the season and 0-1 with a 5.09 ERA in his last three starts.

The Kansas City Royals moved to within a game of the AL Central leading Tigers as they beat the Indians in Cleveland. Omar Infante had two hits and Lorenzo Cain and Eric Hosmer were among those with hits as the Royals scored two runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Danny Duffy allowed six hits and struck out five over 6.0 innings to get the win and Greg Holland earned his 44th save. For Tuesday’s game the Royals start Yordano Ventura who is 13-10 with a 3.19 ERA for the season and 2-1 with a 1.80 ERA in his last three starts.
Cleveland is 5-2 in their last seven games as a home favorite, 0-6 against a team with a winning record, and 5-2 in Salazar’s last seven home starts. Kansas City is 17-7 in their last 24 road games, 5-9 against the AL Central, and 6-2 in Ventura’s last eight road starts. Kansas City is 1-4 in their last five games against Cleveland.
The Royals are the better team and Ventura is the better pitcher so getting them as dog here is too good to pass up.
