The Arizona Diamondbacks and Minnesota Twins end their interleague series at Target Field Wednesday.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have one goal left in the season and that is to avoid the dubious distinction of losing 100 games. The D-Backs didn't help their cause Tuesday in a 6-2 defeat with both the arms and bats falling short. Andrew Chaffin took the loss with four runs plated on seven hits over three innings of work. The offense totaled nine hits with Mark Trumbo, Ender Inciarte and Chris Owings rapping RBI hits but the Snakes missed out on several chances. Lefty Vidal Nuno faces off with the Minnesota Twins in the final game of the series. Nuno has yet to win a game since joining the Diamondbacks with an 0-6 record with 3.78 ERA with Zona 1-12 in his starts.

The Minnesota Twins hope to go on a hot run to end the regular season and carry some momentum with them in to the offseason. Minnesota picked up back to back victories following Tuesday's victory which was a rare night with the pitching and hitting on the same page. Starter Kyle Gibson got the victory with a single run given up on seven hits through seven innings while striking out eight. The Twins racked up 12 hits with Chris Parmelee driving in a pair of runs while Trevor Plouffe went 4-4 with a run. Phil Hughes is scheduled to make Wednesday's start versus the Arizona Diamondbacks. Hughes has been a solid addition to the Twins rotation with a 15-10 record and 3.61 ERA over 31 outings.
Two former Yankees take the mound with Nuno and the Diamondbacks failing to win while Hughes has done a pretty good job which is why I'll back Minnesota...
