The Washington Nationals and the New York Mets face off on Wednesday in Washington as they continue their series.
The Washington Nationals have the best record in the National League and they got a game better on Tuesday beating the Mets. Adam LaRoche hit a home run and Denard Span and Kevin Frandsen each had hits as the Nationals scored four runs on five hits. Starting pitcher Tanner Roark allowed five hits and two runs over 6.1 innings to get the win and go to 15-10 for the season and Drew Storen earned his 10th save. For Wednesday’s game the Nationals start Gio Gonzalez who is 9-10 for the season with a 3.74 ERA and 2-1 with a 2.75 ERA in his last three starts.

The New York Mets look to be putting together a talented young roster but they will have to chalk Tuesday up as a learning experience as they lost to the Nationals. Wilmer Flores had two hits and Curtis Granderson and Matthew den Dekker each had hits as the Mets scored two runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Bartolo Colon allowed five hits and four runs while striking out four over 6.0 innings to take the loss. For Wednesday’s game the Mets start Dillon Gee who is 7-8 with a 3.88 ERA for the season and 1-2 with a 4.26 ERA in his last three starts.
Washington is 14-4 in their last 18 home games, 29-11 in their last 40 games, and 5-2 in Gonzalez’s last seven starts. New York is 4-0 in their last four road games, 4-2 in their last six games, and 1-4 in Gee’s last five rad starts. New York is 2-5 in their last seven meetings in Washington.
His one should be close but I am going with the Nats as Gee doesn’t seem himself right now.
