The New York Yankees head to Fenway Park to take the field with the rival Boston Red Sox.
The New York Yankees won't be sending Derek Jeter in to retirement off a postseason appearance so the next best thing is to win the games remaining on the schedule. The Yankees made Jeter's last home game a good one with a 6-5 victory on Thursday. Hiroki Kuroda gave up a pair of runs over eight frames while striking out nine but received a ND when David Robertson served up a solo homer and two run homer in the 9th but got the win when the Yanks scored in the bottom half. Jeter led the offense with two hits and three RBI, with Brian McCann nocking in two more. Veteran Chris Capuano draws the start in game one against the Boston Red Sox on Friday. Capuano need to rebound from a 6-3 loss to the Blue Jays where he allowed four runs in 5.2 frames.

The Boston Red Sox have had nothing go in their favor as the season draws near which is still surprising given how they dominates the game in 2013. The Red Sox looked like it was 2013 for a night as they thrashed Tampa Bay 13-1 Thursday. Allen Webster took care ot the Rays offense with the lone run plated on seven hits through seven innings to get the win. Boston pounded out 16 hits with Christian Vasquez going 4-4 with a homer and three RBI's while Rusney Castillo went 2-4 with a homer and two more RBI's.The Red Sox give Friday's start against the New York Yankees to Steven Wright whose only start came against Houston. In 16 innings out of the bullpen Wright is 0-0 with 3.38 ERA.
I'm not a big backer of Capuano but I don't know what Wright is going to do but my guess is a bunch of relievers get the call. I say no thanks...
