The Los Angeles Angels spent the first half of 2014 chasing Oakland in the American League West and finally overtook the Athletics after the All Star break. The Angels finished with the best record in the game despite losing star hurler Garrett Richards. Despite losing one of the top pitchers in the game the Angels posted a competitive 3.58 ERA which was #15. That turned out to be more then good enough with the best offense in the game scoring 4.77 runs per game. Los Angeles was 6th with a .259 batting average with Howie Kendrick checking in with a .293 average. Do everything star Mike Trout hit .287 and connected on 36 homers. The Angels hand the ball to Jered Weaver to kick off the ALDS with the Kansas City Royals. Weaver is 18-9 with a 3.59 ERA covering 34 outings where the Angels are 22-12.
If there is such a thing as momentum then Kansas City should have it after the Wild Card win. Having said that I don't know if momentum is enough to topple the Angels...
