The San Francisco Giants shoot for back to back road wins at the expense of the Washington Nationals in the NLDS.
The San Francisco Giants carried over the momentum from their Wild Card win over Pittsburgh with a 3-2 victory to take a 1-0 lead in NLDS. Outstanding pitching and a few clutch hits carried the day with starter Jake Peavy tossing a two hit shutout over 5.2 frames with Hunter Strickland serving up back to back homers in the 7th. The Giants pounded out 12 hits with Joe Panik, Buster Posey and Brandon Belt driving in runs. Veteran Tim Hudson gets the start in game two of the NLDS at the Washington Nationals on Saturday. Hudson struggled to end the season with three consecutive defeats with an ERA north of ten.

The Washington Nationals have struggled at times to score runs and the NLDS opener saw the offense have trouble. The work on the mound was strong with Stephen Strasburg giving up a pair of runs (one earned) on eight hits through five innings pitched with Craig Stammen allowing one. The bats had a few opportunities on a six hit, four walk attack but were able to muster solo jacks of the bats of Bryce Harper and Asdrubal Cabrera who connected back to back in the 7th. Jordan Zimmermann is scheduled to be on the hill in game two of th NLDS versus the San Francisco Giants on Saturday. Zimmermann ended the regular season with a bang with a no hitter in a 1-0 victory over Miami.
I don't really like backing Hudson but I do like San Francisco who isn't phased by anything. Going against a red hot Zimmermann might not be the smartest move but...
