The San Francisco Giants and St Louis Cardinals meet in game one of the NLCS at Busch Stadium on Saturday.

The San Francisco Giants have enjoyed an up and down season although the ending has yet to be written. This team had an inexplicably bad 2013 and came roaring out of the gates to lead the National League West early on and appeared to be the best team in the game. Of course the Giants slowed with the Dodgers eventually winning the division but SF regrouped and snagged the Wild Card where they crushed Pittsburgh 8-0. The Giants then disposed of the Nationals in four games with two wins coming in Washington as they won their three games by a single run. The key for this squad was airtight pitching and the tendency to come up big at the plate in crunch time. Madison Bumgarner gets the ball Saturday in the opener and is 1-1 in the postseason with two earned runs scored in 16 frames.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. San Francisco Giants Pick-Odds-Prediction - 10/11/14 NLCS Game One

The St Louis Cardinals and the postseason seem to go hand in hand which is always bad news for the rest of the National League Central. The Cardinals have been the creme of the crop in this division although they didn't clinch until the final day of the regular season with Pittsburgh putting on the pressure. Even early in the season when Milwaukee appeared to be the clear favorite in the Central my gut told me that eventually the Redbirds would be the last team standing because they have the arms and bats and simply seem to get both going at the right time and did so once again. The Cards did just that in winning the NLDS 3-1 versus the Dodgers and beating Clayton Kershaw twice in the process after the soon to be named Cy Young award winner lost just three times in the regular season. Adam Wainwright gets the ball in the opener looking to bounce back from his lone NLCS start where he gave up six runs on 11 hits in 4.1 frames.

Bumgarner is actually better on the road then at home so right now I'm thinking of taking the better odds on a dangerous team...
