The St Louis Cardinals look to even their NLCS with the San Francisco Giants on Sunday night.
The San Francisco Giants took game number one of the NLDS with a 3-0 victory at Busch Stadium on Saturday night. The offense didn't do much but thanks to the pitching of Madison Bumgarner not a whole lot of scoring was needed. Bumgarner tossed a four hit shutout over 7.2 frames while striking out seven to get the win. The bats posted eight hits and walked four times with Brandon Belt and Travis Ishikawa recording RBI's. Veteran Jake Peavy will be on the mound to face the San Francisco Giants in game two of the NLCS. Peavy is looking to duplicate his last outing where he tossed a two hit shutout over 5.2 frames in a 3-2 win over the Nationals.

The St Louis Cardinals struggled to get anything going at the plate in the NLCS opener and the work on the mound couldn't pick up the slack. Ace Adam Wainwright didn't look like his normal stingy self with all three runs plated (two earned) on six hits and a trio of base on balls through 4.2 innings to absorb the loss. Four relievers held the Giants off the scoreboard to give the offense a chance but all was quiet at the plate. The Redbirds produced four hits and a single walk with Jon Jay going 2-2 with a pair of singles. St Louis is scheduled to start Lance Lynn in the second game of the NLCS versus the San Francisco Giants. Lynn faced the Dodgers in the NLDS and allowed two runs in six innings of a 3-2 defeat.
No line is out but the Cardinals will be favored. Maybe it's deserved but San Francisco is on their level so I'll take the better odds...
