The San Francisco Giants shoot for back to back home wins in game four of the NLCS versus the St Louis Cardinals.
The St Louis Cardinals fell behind 4-0 in the first and then slowly chipped away to tie it before dropping a disappointing 5-4 decision at AT&T Park in ten innings of game three of the NLCS. Veteran John Lackey was charged with four first inning runs before settling down. Lackey lasted six innings with five hits and a walk given up with three relievers putting up zeros before Randy Choate's throwing error allowed the winning run to score. The Cardinals offense totaled nine hits with Randal Grichuk smacking a solo homer with Kolten Wong driving in a pair. Jhonny Peralta recorded an RBI and Jon Jay scored twice to lead the offense. The Cardinals turn to Shelby Miller for the game four start at San Francisco on Wednesday. Miller faced the Dodgers in the NLDS where he gave up two runs on five hits and four bases on balls in 5.2 frames of a 3-2 win.

The San Francisco Giants appeared to be in the driver's seat after a four run first and veteran hurler Tim Hudson on the mound but the Cardinals made them work for every thing they got from that point on. Hudson gave up all four runs on seven hits through 6.1 innings in a no decision performance.Four relievers came to the rescue with Sergio Romo getting the final out of the game in the 10th to earn the win. The bats posted only six hits and walked twice with Travis Ishikawa swinging the big bat with a three run double in the first while Hunter Pence doubled in another run and scored in the openining frame. Brandon Crawford walked and scored the winner on a throwing error in the 10th in walkoff fashion. Ryan Vogelsong is scheduled to start game four of the NLCS against the visiting St Louis Cardinals Wednesday. Vogelsong defeated Washington 2-1 in the NLDS with the lone run scored on a pair of hits and two BB over 5.2 innings.
The Cardinals are 4-10 in their last 14 road playoff games while San Francisco is 7-1 in the last eight playoff games at home. The Giants are 8-2 in their last ten contests overall while the over has gone 12-3 in their last 15 postseason home appearances.
The trends say San Francisco has been extremely tough in their own backyard with runs also being plentiful. For some reason the Giants seem to thrive at crucial times of the game whether it's a big hit or big pitch that's needed. The Cardinals once again proved no lead is safe which gives meanining to the saying it's never over until it's over so I'll give a slight lean to San Francisco who find a way to get the job done...
