The Seattle Mariners look for back to back wins to open the season against the Los Angeles Angels.
The Los Angeles Angels mustered a 1-0 first inning lead against Felix Hernandez but could not keep the momentum going in a 4-1 opening day defeat Monday. Jered Weaver didn’t have his best stuff with all four runs allowed on eight hits through six innings of work to fall to 0-1. Weaver wasn’t the only one who struggled as the offense couldn’t do anything after the first with Mike Trout going 1-4 with a solo homer accounting for the scoring. Overall the LAA managed four hits and a pair of bases on balls while striking out 12 times. Veteran left hander CJ Wilson gets Tuesday’s call to the mound against the Mariners. Wilson was 13-10 with a 4.51 ERA in 31 starts a year ago covering 175.2 innings pitched.

The Seattle Mariners look to keep the momentum going after knocking off the defending American League West champion Angels 4-1 in their opener. Ace Felix Hernandez looked to be in mid season form with a first inning homer served up to Mike Trout before going seven innings with two hits an a walk given up while whiffing ten to kick off 2015 1-0 with four relievers putting up zeros. The Mariners logged ten hits with Dustin Ackley smacking a solo homer while Seth Smith went 3-3 with a triple and two RBI’s with a run scored. Austin Jackson and Brad Miller each had a pair of hits with each also scoring. James Paxton takes the mound Tuesday versus the Angels looking to continue his success from 2014. Paxton made 13 starts a season ago with a 6-4 record with a 3.04 over 74 frames.
For Los Angeles the over is 11-4 in the Angels last 15 road games and 36-16-2 in the last 54 Tuesday games while the Angels are 3-13 in Wilsons last 16 road starts. For Seattle the Mariners are 7-2 in their last 9 Tuesday games while the over is 6-2 in Seattle’s last 8 games as a favorite with the under going 37-14-3 in the Mariners last 54 home games. Not much to go on so early in the season but I’ll back the home team once again…
