The Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies meet Wednesday night at Citizens Bank Park.
The Boston Red Sox had an impressive season opener on Monday in which they won, 8-0. Hanley Ramirez was the story of the victory, as he went deep twice and produced five RBIs. Dustin Pedroia also hit two home runs and the whole Boston team drew seven walks. The Red Sox strung together nine total hits, and David Ortiz and Pablo Sandoval were the only players to strike out more than once. The Boston Red Sox are expected to be one of the biggest turnarounds this season and if the season opener was any indication of things to come, it’s going to be a great season for this franchise. Rick Porcello gets the ball, and he was 15-13 with a 3.43 ERA and 129 strikeouts last season. This is Porcello’s second career game against the Phillies.

The Philadelphia Phillies thought things were going to be bad this season, but their season opener was probably worse than expected. The Phillies lineup produced just three hits and Cole Hamels was tagged with four earned runs. Chase Utley was one of three players to strike out twice and Ryan Howard was the only player with an extra-base hit. The Philadelphia Phillies are in for a very long season if Monday’s loss is any indication of things to come. Aaron Harang takes the hill, and he was 12-12 with a 3.57 ERA and 161 strikeouts last season. Harang is 2-2 with a 5.08 ERA and 25 strikeouts in his career against the Red Sox.
The Red Sox are 58-24 in their last 82 vs. National League East and 8-17 in their last 25 during game 2 of a series. The Phillies are 8-2 in their last 10 during game 2 of a series and 5-17 in their last 22 vs. American League East. The Red Sox are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Philadelphia.
The Red Sox are just by far the better team here and has the advantage on the mound as well. Don't expect much different from the first time these teams played.
