The San Francisco Giants and the San Diego Padres will face of in game two of their series this Friday night at Petco Park.

The San Francisco Giants weren’t able to get much going on the offensive end against San Diego, however, were able to win the first game of the series over the much improves Padres by a 1-0 margin in 12 innings last night. Brandon Crawford was able to get on base in the top of the 10th thanks to an error by Clint Barmes and scored the winning run on a pinch hit single by Justin Maxwell. Besides Maxwell, leading the way for the Giants on the offensive end was Gregor Blanco who went 2-4 with a walk in the victory. Tim Hudson was a bit wild in his first outing of the season walking five Padres, however, was able to get through 6.1 innings without giving up a run. San Francisco’s bullpen did an outstanding job as 6 different pitchers went a combined 5.2 innings while giving up no runs on just 2 hits while striking out 6. George Kontos picked up the win for the Giants while Santiago Casilla picked up this third save of the season.

Padres vs. Giants - 4/10/15 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The new-look San Diego Padres haven’t gotten off to the start they hoped as they dropped to 1-3 on the young season after their defeat to the Giants. The Padres have a lot of news faces in the lineup such as Justin Upton and Matt Kemp, however, weren’t able to get any runs across the plate in the first game of this matchup and ended going just 1-11 with RISP. Leading the way for the Padres was yonder Alonso (1-3, 2 BB) and Justin Upton (1-5, 2B). San Diego’s starter, Ian Kennedy, was only able to last 2.1 innings and had to leave the ball game with a hamstring injury. Odrisamer Despaigne pitched brilliantly in relief of Kennedy as he retired all 14 batters he faced. Nick Vincent picked up the loss giving up 2 hits and 1 walk in 2 innings pitched.

The Giants are 4-1 in their last 5 vs. the NL West and 7-3 in their last 10 games as an underdog. The Padres are 24-7 in their last 31 home games and 20-7 in their last 27 games as a favorite.

Tim Lincecum will get the start for San Francisco. Lincecum went 12-9 in 33 games last year while posting a 4.74 ERA and 1.39 WHIP. Lincecum will try to find the stuff the made him dominant in his early days with the Giants, however, as all his pitches have seem to lost velocity over the years, it more likely that Lincecum will be battling to keep a spot in the starting rotation than becoming the ace of the rotation again. The Padres will start newly acquired Brandon Morrow and hope that he can re-find the form he had before being plagued with injuries over the past three years.

Morrow was able to beat out Odrisamer Despaigne to for the fifth spot in the Padres rotation and I think he has a lot of motivation in this match-up to show everyone that his injuries are behind him. Lincecum was a stud during his prime, however, I think this Padres line-up will be able to do some damage off him in this one and I think that Padres will roll to a big victory in this one. Take San Diego.
