The Tampa Bay Rays and Miami Marlins play Saturday afternoon in game two of their series.
The Tampa Bay Rays are off to a cold 1-3 start and lost a heartbreaker, 10-9 on Friday. The Rays pitching staff has now allowed 22 runs in their first four games. Dating back to last season, the Rays have lost eight straight when allowing more than three runs. Offensively, Asdrubal Cabrera and Kevin Kiermaier have combined for 10 hits while Logan Forsythe has four RBI. The Tampa Bay Rays have a lot of young talent but aren’t going to win many games if their pitching staff continues to get blown up on a daily basis. Chris Archer gets the nod, and he’s 0-1 with a 4.76 ERA and five strikeouts this season. This will be Archer’s second career game against the Marlins.

The Miami Marlins picked up their first win of the season and it didn’t come easy after they blew two leads. Still, the Marlins offense finally broke out, Dee Gordon leads the squad with six hits and Christian Yelich and Giancarlo Stanton have combined for six RBI. The Marlins have yet to hit a homerun this season. Pitching wise, the Marlins have allowed 23 runs in their last three games. The Miami Marlins are off to a slow start but have a balanced and talented team that could get back on their feet in this series. Jarred Cosart takes the hill, and he was 13-11 with a 3.69 ERA and 115 strikeouts last season. Cosart is 3-0 with a 1.17 ERA and six strikeouts in his career against the Rays.
The Rays are 12-3 in their last 15 Saturday games and 8-1 in Archers last 9 road starts. The Marlins are 19-7 in their last 26 interleague games and 9-1 in their last 10 interleague games as a favorite. The Rays are 0-5 in the last 5 meetings.
You see Cosart's numbers against the Rays in his career? I'll have some of that. The Marlins bats have finally woken up, which is bad news for a limited Rays team that's in rebuilding mode.
