The Washington Nationals and Philadelphia Phillies play game two of their series Saturday.
The Washington Nationals are off to a poor 1-3 start, as they dropped the first game of this series, 4-1. The Nats main issue has been a lack of offense, as they’ve scored just six runs in their last three games. While Michael Taylor and Bryce Harper have combined for 10 hits, Ryan Zimmerman and Dan Uggla have combined for nine strikeouts. The Washington Nationals were picked by many to win the World Series, and this can’t exactly be the start they wished to have out of the gate. Doug Fister takes the hill, and he was 16-6 with a 2.41 ERA and 98 strikeouts last season. Fister is 2-2 with a 2.60 ERA and 19 strikeouts in his career against the Phillies.

The Philadelphia Phillies are off to an OK 2-2 start and would feel great if they can get another W here. Jeff Francoeur and Chase Utley have combined for six RBI and Freddy Galvis leads the Phillies with five hits. The Phillies pitching staff struck out nine batters in Friday’s win. The Philadelphia Phillies were picked to be one of the worst teams in the league, but their decent start to the season could turn some heads in the first week. Cole Hamels is 0-1 with a 7.20 ERA and six strikeouts this season. Hamels is 15-8 with a 2.63 ERA and 213 strikeouts in his career against the Nationals.
The Nationals are 14-5 in their last 19 vs. National League East and 7-2 in Fisters last 9 road starts. The Phillies are 2-5 in their last 7 vs. National League East and 7-20 in Hamels' last 27 Saturday starts. The Phillies are 10-2 in Hamels' last 12 home starts vs. Nationals.
The Nationals just don't look impressive out of the gate, and Hamels has been money against Washington in his career, especially at home. I'll take the home team for the plus money.
