The Texas Rangers host instate rival the Houston Astros in late Saturday night action.

The Houston Astros are not expected to be a major player in 2015 but if they continue to improve a little each year they could be a factor in the future. The Astros aren’t known for getting their offense and pitching on the same page often enough but they did in a 5-1 victory at Texas Thursday. Collin McHugh was strong through six frames with the lone run scored on five hits and a pair of bases on balls to pick up the win. The offense carried their weight as well with ten hits and two free passes with Jed Lowrie and Colby Rasmus smacking long balls with Rasmus and Jake Marisnick each knocking in two runs while Jason Castro scored twice. Veteran Roberto Hernandez toes the rubber for the Houston Astros after making 20 starts with Philadelphia and nine with the Dodgers in 2014. Hernandez was a combined 8-11 with an ERA hovering around four.

Texas Rangers vs. Houston Astros - 4/11/15 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Texas Rangers have faded over the past few seasons and are looking to rebound and make a return to their glory days. We shall see if the Rangers are on the upswing although it’s too early to determine which way they are going. For a day it wasn’t good with struggles in most areas which in baseball equals a loss. Starter Derek Holland allowed a run in the first  to absorb the loss with five relievers seeing action with Anthony Bass allowing a run through five frames being the most effective. The offense never got untracked on six hits and a pair of free passes with Prince Fielder posting three hits while Delino DeShields Jr. driving in Adrian Beltre with the lone run.The Rangers send Yovani Gallardo to the bump for the second time this season. Gallardo needs a big rebound from his first outing where he allowed four runs on six hits over four frames in an 8-0 loss at Oakland.

The under is 19-6-1 in Houston’s last 26 road games and  35-15-1 in HOU last 51 overall while going 35-15-1 in HOU last 51 on grass. Texas are 2-10 in their last 12 Saturday games and  are 3-10 in their last 13 games as a favorite while the under is 11-4-1 in  last 16 Saturday games. Head to head the Astros are 7-20 in the last 27 meetings in Texas and 19-44 in the last 63 meetings. I am not the fan I once was of Gallardo so he has an edge in my view but it’s too pricey for me…
