The New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox face off on Saturday in game two of their MLB series after playing a 19-inning marathon on Friday.
The New York Yankees battled back to tie the game with the Red Sox twice in extra innings on Friday but in the end they didn’t have enough to get the lead as they eventually lost in 19. Jacoby Ellsbury, Brett Gardener, Alex Rodriguez, and Brian McCann each had two hits as the Yankees scored five runs on 14 hits. Starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi allowed eight hits and three runs while striking out one over 5.1 innings but he was long gone by the time this one was decided as Esmil Rogers took the loss. For Saturday’s game the Yankees start Adam Warren who was 3-6 with a 2.97 ERA striking out 76 over 78.2 innings.

For Saturday’s game the Red Sox start Joe Kelly who was 4-2 with a 4.11 ERA striking out 41 over 61.1 innings last season after being traded to Boston.
New York is 1-4 in games with the total set t 7.0 to 8.5, 4-2 against team with a winning percentage better than .600, and 42-20 in their last 61 home games against a team with a road winning percentage better than .600. Boston is 4-0 as an underdog, 3-7 in Saturday games, 8-18 in game two of a series, and 5-1 in Kelly’s last six road starts. Boston is 2-4 in the last six meetings of these two.
I have never been much of a believer in Kelly and on the road with just a few hours in between games I just don’t see his Red Sox bailing him out so I like the Yankees here.
